Cabellos, Ed."],"format":["HTML","TEXT","PDF","XML"],"page_count":"42","pub_status":"PROPOSED STANDARD","status":"PROPOSED STANDARD","source":"Locator\/ID Separation Protocol","abstract":"This document describes the control plane and Mapping Service for the\r\nLocator\/ID Separation Protocol (LISP), implemented by two types of\r\nLISP-speaking devices -- the LISP Map-Resolver and LISP Map-Server --\r\nthat provide a simplified \"front end\" for one or more Endpoint IDs\r\n(EIDs) to Routing Locator mapping databases.\r\n\r\nBy using this control plane service interface and communicating with\r\nMap-Resolvers and Map-Servers, LISP Ingress Tunnel Routers (ITRs) and\r\nEgress Tunnel Routers (ETRs) are not dependent on the details of\r\nmapping database systems; this behavior facilitates modularity with\r\ndifferent database designs. Since these devices implement the \"edge\"\r\nof the LISP control plane infrastructure, connecting EID addressable\r\nnodes of a LISP site, the implementation and operational complexity\r\nof the overall cost and effort of deploying LISP is reduced.\r\n\r\nThis document obsoletes RFCs 6830 and 6833.","pub_date":"October 2022","keywords":[],"obsoletes":["RFC6830","RFC6833"],"obsoleted_by":[],"updates":[],"updated_by":[],"see_also":[],"doi":"10.17487\/RFC9301","errata_url":null}
